Capturing a moment like this is what I live for. Was she reliving her first dance? It is her granddaughter’s wedding, so maybe she was reliving her whole wedding.
In many moments during a wedding, the guests know I am there, and they stop what they’re doing and smile for the camera. Giving a photojournalistic coverage to a wedding then becomes hard. But, I never waver. They get so used to me being there that the guests learn to ignore me. And then I move in, turn off my flash, and move in for a shot like this.
